The Emerald of Equator

 Indonesia is a country with wonderful and amazing nature; consist of many rivers, mountains, beaches and villages or cities. As an archipelagic country with more than 17.504 islands, Indonesia also kwon as “the emerald of equator”. This country has the 4th longer coast line with 95.181 km of length.

Among those 17.504 Islands there are 5 major islands in Indonesia which is Sumatera, Java, Kalimantan or Borneo, Sulawesi, and Papua.

Indonesia's total land area is 1,919,317 square kilometers (741,052 sq mi). beside the land area, Included in Indonesia's total territory is another 93,000 square kilometers (35,908 sq mi) of inland seas (straits, bays, and other bodies of water). The additional surrounding sea areas bring Indonesia's generally recognized territory (land and sea) to about 5 million square kilometers.

Beside beaches, Indonesia also has many mountains. About 400 mountains, with 130 active volcanoes, stands between sabang, the westernmost of this country, until merauke, the easternmost. Indonesia also a meeting place of two ring fire of volcanoes, and three tectonic plates which is indo-australia, eurasia, and pasific plates. That is why eruption of volcanoes and earthquake often occurred.

Indonesia also has variated cultural richness with more than 300 etchnic group, 721 local languages, cultures and architectures. Javanesse is the biggest ethnict group with 41% of population. And next theres sundanese, maduranes, malay, chinesse and others.

This geographical and cultural richness has made Indonesia as a unique country with many beautiful places like beaches, mountains, rural area and others. The next article of this blog will tell about those beautiful places.
